History
Wilson Brothers Roofing was founded in 2007 by Guy Jason and Justin Wilson; brothers who, literally, grew up in the roofing industry. Jason recalls “I remember going out on roofs, handing my dad shakes [roof shingles], loading material for him. In high school, I worked summers; every summer. After school he had me back here cleaning up the yard, dumping pallets, loading material on trucks…” His younger brother, Justin, remembers similar childhood stories: “I remember doing a job with Dad when Haggin Oaks was still new. We were expected to pitch it and be part of the family company.”
Their father, Guy V. Wilson, founded Wilson’s Roofing, Inc. in 1977 and provided the strong and sound foundation for not only their roofing skills but their values and business practices. Over the course of their childhood, teen years and on to their young adulthood, Guy vigorously taught and conditioned his sons the value of work, honesty, and expertise in roofing. Under his direction, Jason and Justin were molded with the intention of continuing Wilson’s Roofing, Inc. into the next generation, which they did as of 2005 when Guy stepped aside to let The Brothers stand on their own.
Over the following years, the construction industry reached heights that seemed impossible and lows that seemed unimaginable but The Brothers made their way through the mire of the economic downturn while many roofing companies (and companies in general) did not. They again attribute this to the strong work ethic and the importance of diversity instilled into them by their father. About this, Justin says: “Dad was diversified, and we are still that way. Dad always preached that to us. When an economic downturn happens, we can easily adjust. Unlike other roofing companies, we don’t experience the learning curve to move to a new service because we offer all of them. It simply becomes a matter of focusing an expertise we already have.”
Though the Wilson’s Roofing name was a sign of trust, reliability and honesty, the Brothers decided to be bold in late 2006 by starting a new company to commemorate the entrance of a new generation in the Kern County roofing industry. Just as Guy Wilson did with Wilson’s Roofing, Jason and Justin intend to make Wilson Brothers Roofing a full reflection of who they are and what they believe. As Justin sees it “Our perspective is the same as Dad’s. Our work ethic and commitment to integrity is the same, and we do the best job we can. But we want to take it to the next level in ways Dad never could because of the new technology and means available to us today. We want to continue to be on the forefront on this industry just as Dad had for the last.”
